What is EVV, and how is your Provider Agency transiting?
The 21 Century Act Bill Passed
Section 12006(a) of the 21st Century Cures Act mandates that states implement EVV for all Medicaid personal care services (PCS) and home health services.
Community Based Providers that have not experienced EVV, did effective January 1, 2021.
The transition for Medicaid Providers was definitely a new experience, that came with lot's of training and Provider Credentialing with new MCO (Managed Care Organizations) and PHP (Private Health Providers).
So how does EVV actually Work and What is the Program Goal?
Prior to EVV, Provider Agencies that participated in Community Based Care, Personal Care Services, Skilled/ Non Skilled care would capture, the Services Provided Manually.
EVV, requires services to be captured electronically. This includes; several Validations inputs, to capture GPS In/Out time and POC.
Monitoring Devices
The monitoring of EVV services via, Mobile Phone, Recipient Phone, or FOB devices to take the place if neither Caregiver or Recipient has a phone. Provider Agencies either utilize software provided by the state, or self purchased software that meets the Vendors requirements.
Program Goal
Budget and Oversight at the Top of the list; to prevent Fraud, Waste, and Abuse of the Program that is intended for frail, elderly and the disabled.
To Manage Care in Network and review information.
Provider and Patient education are on the Rise, and it is a Wonderful unity, that can bridge the gap in communications, and enhance the Quality of Care.
